2001 ESTATE PINOT NOIR
Teaser: Seductive and distinct!
This wine has an elegant ruby red, Burgundian style color with sensual mixed berries on the nose. Though 14 years old, there is plenty of ripe fruit and acidity thriving. Rich flavors of morel mushrooms, cherry flambé sauce and seductive wood aromas blend with turned earth and black olives. The mushroom, earthy finish exudes a French Burgundy style wine.
The best food pairings for a very bold Pinot Noir are rich meat dishes and creamy cheese, as these can stand up to the wine’s intensity. Examples to pair with a full bodied wine like this one would be lean cuts of meat. Beef with too much fat in it may overpower the subtler flavors of the wine. Any dish using mushrooms or truffles will pair well with Pinot Noir because these ingredients bring out the earthiness in the wine. Even the most fruit-forward Pinot Noir wines often have some earthy qualities that you may want to highlight.
